Translational Learning & Informatics

My laboratory in “Translational Learning & Informatics” focuses on formulating, developing and disseminating transfer learning algorithms and software tools and their applications to studies of human disease, including cancer, infectious, neurologic and immune-mediated diseases, to accelerate biomedical research and healthcare delivery. I use the term “translational learning” to highlight that my frameworks bring together cutting-edge computational (transfer learning) and experimental (translational science) technologies. The formulation, development and dissemination of generic transfer learning frameworks that facilitate systematic translation of knowledge across different domains that each provide complementary insights from basic to translational science of human disease, and in which newly emerging data and technologies can be easily incorporated is especially timely given the urgent need to transition these technologies into clinical practice.
